Harry Swank

Mr. H. Douglas "Doug" Swank, 76, of Boyds, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at  his residence. He was the husband of Barbara Ann Cooley Swank, his wife of 54 years.
Born on August 7, 1940, in Clarksburg, he was the son of the late Harry Samuel Swank and Cariolene Hawkins Jones.
Doug was a 1958 graduate of Gaithersburg High School.
He began his career with the U.S. Government as a machinist, next he went to NIH as a medical instrument maker and retired as the Supervisor of the Standards and Specifications Branch.
Doug was an active member of the Barnesville Baptist Church as well as the Woodsboro Dance Club. He was an avid hunter and a Corvette enthusiast.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son Scott D. Swank and wife Lisa of Bel Air, daughter-in-law Lori Swank of Hampstead; three grandsons: Justin D. Swank and wife Rachel, John D. Swank and Matthew P. Swank.
He was preceded in death by son, Dean A. Swank.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, October 7, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 8,  at Barnesville Baptist Church, 17917 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville, MD 20838 with Rev. Danny Moore  officiating.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick with Justin, John, Matthew and Steve Swank, Gary Cooley and Rob Cosgray serving as active pallbearers and Ralph Cooley, Paul and Phillip Dieffenbach, Rene Jacques and Jeff Smith serving as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to the above named church at P.O. Box 69 Barnesville, MD 20838.
