Irene E. Pound, 95, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown.

Born on November 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Wellington and Flossie Mae (Clopper) Long. Her husband, Eldon Pound, preceded her in death.

Irene was a lifelong resident of Keedysville. She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Boonsboro.

Irene retired from Fairchild and was previously employed by M.P. Moller Pipe Organ Company and Shepherd University.

She is survived by her only child, a son, Keith C. Pound of Keedysville; three sisters, Frances E. Reeder of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Patsy J. Slick and Nancy L. Guyer, both of Keedysville.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn C. Sinnisen and Hazel C. Leatherman; and three brothers, John W. Long, Jr., William R. Long, and Howard F. Long.

A celebration of Irene's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Nancy Green will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
