Janet Hatcher

March 16, 1946 — March 18, 2017

Janet Lee Hatcher, 71, of Hagerstown, Maryland, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.

Born on March 16, 1946, in Lovettsville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Pershing W. and Margaret E. (Engle) Hatcher.

She volunteered at the Garden House at the Edenton Retirement Facility for 20 years working alongside the activities director. For many years, at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Brunswick, she assisted with the young girls' Missionettes group.

She enjoyed attending Daybreak Adult Day Services in Frederick, Easter Seals Day Services in Hagerstown and the Brunswick Senior Center where she developed many special friendships.

Janet is survived by siblings, Elaine Christiansen and husband, Gary, of Des Moines, Iowa, Mary Lewis and husband, Charles, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Shirley Hale of Jefferson, and Roger Hatcher of Hagerstown; one uncle, Arthur Lee Hatcher, Jr. of Boston, Mass.; special "brother-in-law" Robert Hale of Jefferson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, William Hale.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 and one hour prior to services Thursday at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick.

A celebration of Janet's life journey will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 23rd at Stauffer Funeral Home, in Brunswick with the Pastors Larry Nelson and Ron Johnston officiating. Interment will be in Lovettsville Union Cemetery in Lovettsville, Virginia.

Janet was a bright light in the many lives she touched, spreading love, joy and kindness. She had a joy and zest for life that many will always treasure. She never met anyone she didn't consider a friend.
