Jean Zientek Morris

Jean Dolores (Potter) Zientek Morris, 88, of Yarrowsburg, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2022 at the Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on April 11, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Carson Rae  and Maude Lillilan (Phillips) Potter. She was a 1952 graduate of Boonsboro High School. Jean worked for many years as a waitress at the family-owned and operated, Cindy Dee Diner. She also worked for Barnhart's Supermarket, where she retired as a Deli Manager.

In the early 1950’s, she was in a singing trio and took great pride that she was given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to open for the late Patsy Cline at the Brunswick Fire Hall. Jean was also an avid roller skater. She was a life-time member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren.

Jean is survived by her children, Larry Francis “Frankie” Zientek and wife Patti, Tonia Shockey and husband Bryan, Dean Zientek and Maria Pippin and husband Greg; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Kathy Hockenberry.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Lee Martin, Wanda Tinney and June Remsburg. She was the youngest of the “Potter Sisters." Jean is also preceded by her first husband Frank Zientek; her longtime companion, Robert Morris and nephews, Larry and Terry Martin, and Dennis Paige Tinney.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022 at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, MD. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Brownsville Heights Cemetery located behind the church.
