John Harris

Mr. John D. Harris, age 81, of Frederick, MD, transitioned on to be with Our Heavenly Father on June, 11, 2017 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, GA.  Born on May 2, 1936, in Frederick MD, to the late Charles Cromwell Harris Sr. and Mary Catherine Ambush-Harris.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954, and went on to graduate from Frederick Community College with a Civil Engineering Degree.  He retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration as a Civil Engineer after 39 years of service.  And he also worked part-time with Sears for 20 plus years.  He enjoyed, hunting, fishing and of course eating at the Golden Coral is favorite restaurant.  His favorite past time at home was reading the newspaper and watching CNN.   He also enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his oldest daughter Wanda Harris, of Hampton, GA, whom he resided with until his passing. His children, Deborah A. Harris (Tony Barnhart)Hagerstown, John C. Harris (Mary DeSanto) Frederick, MD, Brenda Harris(Phillip Diggs) Hagerstown, Douglas B. Harris, Hagerstown. Also Kevin Gilmore, son in law, Hagerstown.

Surviving Brothers and Sisters, Charles C. Harris(Alys) Frederick, Elaine Watts(Ronnie)Frederick, Howard Harris(Virgina) Frederick, David Harris(Gloria) Cincinnati, OH, Carolyn Irick(Frank)Philadelphia, PA.  He also has four granddaughters, two grandsons, five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of Aunts and Uncles nieces and nephews and cousins. He leaves behind his special friend, Webster S. Ambush of Flint Hill, MD.

He was also preceded in death by his sister Anna Catherine Harris.

The family will receive friends for viewing at 10am and the funeral will be immediately following at 11am, on June 20, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 2017.

Inurnment will be private.
