June Marie Greatorex, 94, passed from this life August 29, 2020.
June was born on November 24, 1925 in Chicago, IL, and her family moved to Washington, D.C. in the early 1930’s. She was graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School and attended the University of Maryland. She met her late husband, Albert T. Greatorex, while working in Washington and they married in 1954. The couple moved to Aspen Hill, MD and later to Rockville, MD. June lived in her Rockville home for 52 years prior to her moving Adamstown, MD, to reside in Buckingham’s Choice.
June was a homemaker, caring for her husband, three children and a myriad of family pets. She was an active member of Millian Memorial United Methodist Church for many decades and was involved in its many committees, Women’s Circles, and clubs. In her younger days, she was involved with the Homemakers Club, taught needlepoint classes from her home, and was a Girl Scout leader for over a decade. She was an avid gardener and member of the The National Capital Area Federation of Garden Clubs. June enjoyed traveling, taking many road-trips, bus-trips, and cruises with her husband, her family, and church groups.
June especially enjoyed time with her family, celebrating birthdays and holidays with large family gatherings and delicious food. She particularly loved the annual Bethany Beach vacations where her extended family would gather to honor and celebrate the birthday and life of her beloved mother, or “Nonie” to her grandchildren.
