Obituary

Mr. Kenneth E. "Ken" Payne, 65, of Sharpsburg died Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Wanda Payne for 40 years.

Born October 30, 1954 in Burkittsville, he was the son of Clifton Payne and the late Betty Kathleen (Mentzer) Payne.

He was a veteran of the 82nd Airborne.

Ken previously managed a Thoroughbred Horse farm in Boyds, MD for Herbert J. Miller. He was currently employed with TBH Inc. as a mixer operator

He enjoyed riding his Harley, spending time with his family and his two furry companions Gunnar and Kalypso, camping, fishing and drinking coffee all day long.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by four children, Shandy Marie Ghanayem of Sharpsburg, MD, Steven Joseph Payne of Sharpsburg, Nathaniel David Payne of Gerrardstown, WV, Hillary Denise Rife of Clear Spring, MD; seven grandchildren, Aaron Ghanayem, Caden Ghanayem, Lainey Lhote, Michaela Lhote, Scarlet Payne, Chayce Rife, and Camden Carter Rife; seven brothers and sisters, Mike Payne, Rick Payne, Eddie Payne, Brenda Payne, Tina Delauter, Jerry Payne, Chris Payne; and many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. 

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 24 from the funeral home chapel. 

Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery - Keedysville.
