Mary Mason

Mrs. Mary Louise (Riggs) Mason, 83, of Hagerstown, died on November 23 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.  She was the wife of the late Willard B. Mason, Sr.  Born on April 26, 1933 in Mount Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Winfield and Lillian Amanda (Barrack) Riggs.

Mary was a member of Glade United Church of Christ, Walkersville, where she was, at one time, a member of the Women's Guild of Glade Church and the Lawase Sunday School Class.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Mason enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Mason is survived by 2 sons: Willard "Tex" Mason, Jr., and Ricky Mason; 4 daughters, Mary Jane Mason Schrader, Bonny Mason Harrison, Shirley Mason Elliott and Lou Mason Goff as well as a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by 3 brothers: John Riggs, Charles Riggs and Richard Riggs and a sister, Mamie Riggs Butts.  In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Fred N. Mason a daughter, Helen Mason Tober, grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Tober and Angie Elliott, brothers, Ralph Riggs and Paul Riggs and a sister, Clair Riggs Flook.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 27 from 4 to 7 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, MD 21793.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28 at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home, Rev. Philip Neal Curran officiating.  Interment will be in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glade United Church of Christ, 21 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, MD 21793
