Myrtle Loun

January 20, 1939 — May 17, 2020

Myrtle Ruth Seal Loun, 81, of Mount Airy, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2020, at Frederick Health Hospital, Frederick, Maryland surrounded by family.

Born on January 20, 1939, near Laurel, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Mack Henry and Pearl Mathis Seal.  She was the loving wife of Harold “Tookie” Loun of Mount Airy, Maryland for over 60 years.

Myrtle worked for and retired from Montgomery County Public Schools as a school bus aide. She also attended the Mt. Lebanon Fellowship church in Damascus, Maryland. She enjoyed going to church, gardening, canning, growing flowers, collecting angels and taking cross country trips with her husband. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Susan Loun-Cafardi of Kemptown, MD and special friend, Dave Harker of Williamsport, MD; Kurtz Loun of Mount Airy, MD; Ruth Loun of Frederick, MD; and Glen Loun of Thurmont, MD; grandchildren, Justin Loun of Kemptown, MD; Luke Cafardi and wife Jessica of Brunswick, MD; and Marcus “Clemmy” Holder and fiance’ Jessica Chapell of Waynesboro, PA.; and great grandchildren, Bryan and Charlotte Cafardi; and Lexi Holder. Surviving brothers and sisters are Ida Mae Beounas of Lebanon, Oregon; Edna “Jewel” Miller and husband Donald of Knoxville, TN; Betty Seal Turner of Maynardville, TN; Jerry “JD” Seal and wife Brenda of Gaithersburg, MD; and David Seal and wife Shirley of Fisherville, VA. She is also survived by brother-in-law Allen Loun and wife Betty Lou of Waynesville, NC; sister-in-law Patricia Schemm of Thurmont, MD; and sister-in-law Barbara Kay Loun of Kemptown, MD. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by sisters Cordie Lee Barnard and husband Jay; Dorothy Halterman and husband George; and Vella Beall and husband Robert; brothers Mack Henry Seal, Jr. and Charlie Seal; and brothers-in-law Charles Schemm and Roland Loun.

Private services will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home in Mount Airy, Maryland with burial to follow at Providence Cemetery in Kemptown, Maryland. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at Stauffer Funeral Home.com.
