IN LOVING MEMORY OF PASTOR LOVELL WILSON

Lovell Wilson came into this world on July 8, 1936 in Eastaboga, Alabama to the late Phillip Monroe and Lera Montgomery Wilson.  He was affectionately called “Love” or “Pastor”.  He made his triumphant transition to glory on July 24, 2017 with his eyes looking toward Heaven.  Assuredly, the angels rejoiced at his arrival.

Lovell Wilson grew up in Alabama and joined the military following high school. He met and married the late Mrs. Elnora Steele-Wilson on 22 December 1956 and remained married to her for 34 years until her death in 1990.  From this union four daughters were born, Renee (Aaron) Wade, Frederick, MD; Pamela Wilson, Frederick, MD; Cheryl (Michael) Harris, Richmond, VA; and Tammy (Reginald) McRae; Frederick, MD.  In addition, he leaves four grandchildren, Monica McRae, Nicole Wade, Kevin McRae and Jasmine Wade to cherish his memory.  He also leaves two devoted sisters-in-law from this union, Mrs. Rozelia Harris, Alabama and Mrs. Mary Averhart, of Alabama who remained close to him until his death.

Lovell Wilson was married to the late Mrs. Dottie Tallington-Wilson on June 5, 1993 for 8 years until her death in 2001. Their union joined her children to our family.  She was the mother of Ken (Joy) Tallington, Georgia; Grady (Marissa) Tallington; Frederick; Andrea (Ricardo) Leverett; Georgia and Charryse (Randy) Johnson, North Carolina. Dottie’s grandchildren are Cameron Tallington, Kindra Tallington, Jacob Tallington, Jhaida Tallington, Andrey Tallington, Audriana Tallington, Abigail Tallington, Avarie Tallington, Justin Leverett, Cordaro Leverett, Shandrea Leverett, Cierra Johnson and Randy Johnson, Jr.

Lovell Wilson married Mrs. Verna Brown-Wilson on March 6, 2004.  They had been married for 13 years at the time of his passing. Their union joined her children to our family.  She is the mother of Timber Wylde (aka Tiffani Brown); Frederick, and Brittany (Matthew) Cavey; Frederick.  From this union, he gained two more daughters and a son-in- law.  Lovell’s in-laws were Doris Surimi, Andrea Banks, Dale (Paul) Brown; Robert (Michelle) Parran; Delonda Bartens Perez, Satura Bridgewater and Che Parran.

Lovell Wilson is survived by a brother and a sister; Dorothy (Alvin) Winton, Missouri and Clarence (Sue) Wilson, Virginia. Lovell was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his brothers Phillip Wilson, Gus Wilson, and William Wilson; and sisters Laura Boozer, Viola Lanier, and Mae Neil Orr.  He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Lovell Wilson served a combined 26 active-duty years in two military services (Army & Air Force), and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the Air Force.  He later worked for Tektronix Inc as a technician and ended his 14-year career as a Regional Manager.  Upon his retirement from Tektronix in 1996, was called into full time ministry as an ordained Pastor.  He next accepted the position of Executive Pastor for Maranatha Church of God (now known as International Community Church) and in May 2004, Lovell became a Bishop in the Church of God, headquartered in Cleveland, TN.  He served God as a Teacher, Elder, Deacon, Christian Education Director, former Director of the Dottie Wilson Ministry, a member of the Prayer Commission of the Church of God (Delmarva DC), as well as the Evangelical Ministerial Fellowship and a certified Christian Counselor to countless people. He trusted God completely and listened daily for God’s instructions.  He was selfless, lived to please God and tried to allow God to order his steps.  He was a great example of a man that followed God, and there is no doubt his legacy followed him to Heaven.

On June 5, 2011, Pastors Lovell and Verna Wilson planted New Hope Fellowship Church of God.  He served God and the New Hope Family Fellowship faithfully as Senior Pastor, or more affectionately called The General, until God called him home.  Despite his illness, he could be seen preaching and counseling from his hospital bed and asking the question, “What do you want out of life?”.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the International Community Church of God, 123 Byte Drive in Frederick, MD.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the International Community Church of God, from 10:00am to 12:00pm.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
