Ralph Kendle

December 8, 1926 — January 7, 2021

Ralph Edwin Kendle, 94, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.

Born on December 8, 1926, in Maugansville, he was the son of the late Preston Kendle, Sr. and Martha Stine Kendle. In April of 2018, his wife, Janice Ridenour Kendle, preceded him in death after 69 years of marriage.

Mr. Kendle served in the United States Air Force from 1946-1948. He was employed by the Hagerstown Rubber Company. He also was a mechanic at Chemical Leaman Tank Line and Ryder-Pie Trucking Company. Mr. Kendle was also a school bus contractor for the Washington County Board of Education.

He as a member of Post 211 American Legion, Williamsport Redmen, South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, B.P.O. Elks 378, Fraternal Order of Eagles, as well as Teamsters Local 992.

He enjoyed attending auctions in the Tri-State area and loved watching NASCAR. He followed Dale Earnhardt for years until Earnhardt's demise. He also liked working in his garage on vehicles and doing repairs for friends, family, and neighbors and also clearing their driveways on snow days.

Mr. Kendle leaves behind one daughter, Carolyn Moser-Smith (David) of Hagerstown; two sons, Dale Kendle of Williamsport, and Michael Kendle of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Deanna Baile of Berkeley Springs, WV, Melanie Moser of Baltimore, and Scott Kendle (Renee) of Williamsport; four great-grandchildren, Brett Baile and Brady Baile and Conner and Grayson Kendle; two sisters, Doris Roberts, and Joanne Brining (Joe); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ike, Harry, Robert, Donald, Leon, Preston, Jr.; and sisters, Kathryn "Kate" Myers and Cora Snowberger; son-in-law, Dennis Moser; and daughter-in-law, Betty Kendle.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Diakon for the care given to their loved one with a special thank you to Amy Myers and Uncle Jack Myers for the many things they did for Ralph and his family.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Washington County.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no viewing or service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com.
