Robert {Bob} C. Flake

Mr. Robert Bob C. Flake, 76 of Frederick MD., died Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Potomac Valley Nursing Center. He was the husband of Joan Burgess Flake.

Born February 2, 1933 in Wadesboro, N.C., he was the son of Agnes Cockman Carroll and William Flake.

Mr. Flake retired as Manager ( Frederick office) from Long and Foster Real Estate. He was a member of South End Baptist Church and a past member and president of the Civitan Club. Bob was an avid golfer and loved watching golf, the Redskins and the Orioles.

Mr. Flake's family would sincerely like to thank the Staff of Potomac Valley Nursing and Wellness Center in Rockville, for the dedicated, compassionate and continuous care they gave him since Oct. 2008. Also, we are very grateful to Evercare Hospice and Pallative Care of Elkridge, MD for their wonderful service.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Janet Spinnler and husband Donald, Rebecca Lewis and husband Preston all of Frederick and Bonnie Orvig and husband Randall of Charleston, SC, five grandchildren Bryan Spinnler of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jessica Spinnler of Frederick, Brittany Lewis of New York City, Preston Lewis of Frederick and Hunter Orvig of Charleston, SC, his sister Miriam Hendricks and husband Paul of St. Louis, MO, his sisters-in-law Marian Stephens, Nancy Burgess, Pat Harris, Nancy Cash Burgess, Jean Burgess and his brother-in-law Bill R. Burgess and wife Jackie.

Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Sunday, September 13, from 7 - 9:00 p.m.

Services: Services will be held Monday, September 14, at 11:00 a.m. from South End Baptist Church, 506 Carrollton Drive, Frederick with Rev. J. Kenneth Stalls officiating.
Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
