RONALD PHILLIPS

Ronald Phillips, 70, from Lake Linganore, MD, passed from this life on Saturday, May 4th, at his home.  Ron was the husband of Linda Measell Phillips; they were married 45 years.  Born on August 11, 1948 in Batesville, AR, he was the oldest child of Coy and Dorothy Phillips of Keedysville, MD.

Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  While serving in the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in 1969-70 during the Vietnam War, he received several commendations including the Bronze Star.  After his military service, he began a career in electronics working at IBM, Watkins Johnson, Fairchild Industries, and retiring from Weinschel.

Besides his parents and wife, Ron is survived by his ‘favorite’ daughter, Rebecca (Phillips) Peacock, and grandchildren Michael and Justin Parker, and Kendall, Kyle and Joshua Peacock.  He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Haag (Ken) of Highland Mills, NY, Coylene Beagle (Randy), Judy Suffecool (Jim) of Waynesboro, PA, Tracy Mitchell (Todd), and Joyce Phillips, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be fondly remembered by his life-long friends, Doug Layman and Maria Dagro, and will be dearly missed by his dog, Petey.

Ron enjoyed taking family vacations to the beach in the Outer Banks, NC, and camping trips, especially near the Cheat River, WV.

Visitation will be at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD, on Thursday, May 9th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home, on Friday, May 10th at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Martinsburg VA Medical Center Voluntary Service, 510 Butler Av, Martinsburg, WV 25405 or to the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA), PO Box 67, Friendship, IN  47021.
