Stella D. Thompson, 75, of Knoxville, MD went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 31, 1944 in Alamomogordo, New Mexico, Stella was the daughter of the late Humphrey and Annie Hill.
She loved all things blue. From her “Blue Suede Shoes” by the legendary Elvis Presley to her blue and silver Cowboys. She embraced the beauty of her flowers and the name of Jesus. She had a heart for all children. She provided daycare for many children in the Pleasant Valley area. Over the years she taught Sunday school and playgroup at Brownsville church of the Brethren. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary with the Clopper - Michael Post 10 American Legion. Crafts and puzzles brought her joy. She loved completing them with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, David Thompson; daughters Cindy Mullenix and husband William of Yarrowsburg and Melody Lescalleet of Boonsboro; grandchildren Jessica and First Lieutenant Luke Maxson, USMC of Pensacola, FL, Alisha and Zachary Stride of Yarrowsburg, Lindsey Lescalleet and Travis Lescalleet of Boonsboro; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Trent, Trevor and Tanner Maxson and Ella Stride. She is also survived by extended grandchildren, Victoria Jennings, Kristin Jennings, Amanda Jennings, Sara Demers, Lily Demers and many more nieces and nephews.
Stella is survived by her siblings Oscar Hill and Annie Avila.
She was preceded in death by Connie Hernandez, Benjamin Hill, Dee Cochran, Elizabeth Montoya, Irene Hudez, and Humphrey Hill.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD.
A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Brownsville Church of the Brethren playgroup.
