May God hold Uncle Steve in his arms and comfort his family and all that loved him. My heart goes out to you all and please let me know if you need anything. I am sincerely sorry I couldn’t make the services. May you find comfort in the wonderful memories. I will always remember his kindness from my childhood.

I extend my sincere sympathy to your whole family. Steve and I were good friends in junior high school. The fact that I didn't say middle school will give you an idea how long ago that was! I spent a lot of time at the house on Jefferson Street and always felt welcomed by the family. Karen and David, I remember the younger yous! Steve and I were often involved with music. He taught me to play some songs on the saxophone, and I taught him to play those same songs on my trumpet. Those were good days, and I have good memories of them. I hope that your good memories will bring comfort to you at this time.

I am so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. There will always be so many memories of times with the Countrymen and that beautiful smile of his. May God bring comfort to you, Ruthie, and your entire family.

I was so sorry to read of Steve’s passing, please accept my heartfelt condolences. I have such fond memories of Steve when he played keyboard for Don Barnes and the Countrymen. My husband, Mark Joy, and I had a band called Honeywagon and both our bands often played at the Silver Dollar Lounge. Sometimes we would be invited to sit in with The Countrymen and it was so much fun to play with Steve. He always seemed to be enjoying himself. We all called him “Bear”, maybe because he looked like a big ol’ teddy bear. Rest In Peace, Steve, and have fun jammin’ with That angel band up yonder.

Had nearly lost all track of Jack and Lauretta”s family except for occasional update when I happened to see their Uncle Charles. Lots of memories of Steve from Washington Street School and particularly of “Growing Up Adam Rd” as I like to call it. Not only through being back yard neighbors, but through the A&P relationship, Smiths, Kellers and Drapers were very close back in the day. Seems there were always card games that resulted in the kids being sprawled all over the floor till late at night. My Mom always talked of the time Jack (Hoss, or whatever Evard was being called at any point in time) told my parents to take any three kids and they’d sort them out in the morning. Then there was the “hole” (unfinished cellar under unbuilt house) where we played out our western, cowboy shooter games.

Sending condolences to all Smiths and Kellers
