Obituary

TAMERA LYNN THOMAS (56) of Secretary, MD, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at home in Mount Airy, MD after battling cancer.

Devoted wife of 31 years to William Anthony Thomas. Loving mother to daughter Tara Adrianna Pew and her husband Ryan Michael of Hedgesville, WV and daughter Taylor Alexis Robinson and her husband Hunter Cole of Woodbine, MD. Caring sister to Steven Michael Darago of Laurel, MD. Supportive daughter to Mary Ruth Hagerman of Mount Airy, MD. Preceded in death by father, Gilbert Steven Darago, and stepfather, Leno Anthony Camelot. Also survived and cherished by many other adoring family members and friends.

Tammy was born February 6, 1965 in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD with the Class of ’83. Tammy began her life-long career of over 25 years at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD as a government contractor where she will be missed by many.

Tammy was driven to live life to the fullest. A favorite quote of hers was, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away.” Tammy loved spending her weekends on the Eastern Shore with friends and family, where she would go out on the boat and watch the sunset on the deck of the River House. She enjoyed long car rides with her husband, trying new restaurants, and shopping in small towns. Tammy looked forward to vacationing in Oak Island, NC each summer with her family where she soaked up the sun and read books on the beach. She cherished every moment she got to spend with her daughters, even if it was something as simple as watching Reality TV and Lifetime movies together. Tammy was an animal-lover, she spoiled her pets Kitty and Daisy who provided her comfort.
