William Hunter, Sr.

William (Bill) Paul Hunter, Sr., 87,of Rockville, MD, died on July 22, 2020. He was the husband of Margie, his wife of 68 years. Born February 22, 1933 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Helen and Galen Hunter, Sr. and brother to Buddy Hunter and Barbara Jean Heaverly. He leaves behind a son, Bill Hunter, Jr. (Carol) and daughters, Karen Selwyn (Al), Brenda Gruber and Sue Jones (Greg) along with 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Bill worked for Safeway for many years, working his way up from clerk to manager and retired as a district manager in 1988. He loved sports, especially football, which he played at Eastern High School followed by semi-pro football with Car Credit. He was most proud of his All-Metropolitan honors and Jocks Reunion Hall of Fame honors. He played golf and loved to go on cruises, especially with his family. He was a hardworking, generous man who loved a good joke, playing cards, country music and telling stories.
