William Stevens, III

September 17, 1946 — January 21, 2020

William (Bill) Marvin Stevens, III was born on September 17, 1946 in
Washington, D.C. to William and Ardyce Stevens. Bill graduated from
Richard Montgomery High School in 1964. He then attended Marietta College in
Marietta, Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968.

He was employed at Bethesda Naval Hospital and then at the National
Institutes of Health as a public health advisor. He retired from the federal
government and then moved to a home with 16 acres in Barnesville, MD, where
he raised goats and chickens as a hobby and an occupation.

Bill had many interests - running, tennis, swimming, traveling, cooking and
gardening. Through the years, he stayed in touch with many friends from high
school and college. He also developed some new, close friendships while living in
Barnesville.

He passed away on January 21, 2020 after a long struggle with cancer. He
leaves his mother, Ardyce Stevens, sister Ardyce (Lynn) Bierly; nieces Lauren
Bierly and Allison (Greg) Stovall; and great-nieces Abigail and Evelyn Stovall. He
was preceded in death by his father, William Stevens and brother Jon Stevens.

Bill believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior. His family is
comforted in knowing that he is now in his heavenly home.
