William Paul "Bill" Fleming

April 11, 1945 — April 22, 2022

William Paul Fleming, “Bill”, 77, of Middletown, Maryland went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 22, 2022. He was the beloved husband of JoAnne Fleming for almost 58 years. Bill and JoAnne were truly two souls that were stitched together in Heaven, with every moment they shared becoming a beautiful, meaningful memory.

Born on April 11, 1945, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Mildred (Landis) Fleming, Billy F. Rankin (birth father) and Robert M. Fleming (adopted father).

He was proceeded in death by his hero Rush Limbaugh.

Bill was best known as a dedicated disciple of God’s word. His true legacy lives on in the hearts of his family. The hearts he patiently filled piece by piece with truth, wisdom, love, and laughter. His most recent Bible study was centered around humility, gentleness, and patience. This was a lesson he lived out every day.

Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you the interests of others.”

He was a man of few words (unless it was about the Evil Empire), but his actions spoke volumes. His quiet encouragement helped bring out the best in those he encountered. He was a Godly example and mentor to whoever walked though his door.

Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Military Police Officer for 4 years during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he and his family moved to Maryland where he attended computer technical training and worked many years as a computer and satellite technician. He retired in 2008 from American Satellite. He spent many years pursuing his passion for playing music. He loved to sit with his Taylor or his banjo learning new songs. His life was filled with music: Bluegrass, Classic Country, Oldies, Gospel, or anything with an incredible drumbeat.

Bill was a longtime member of Grace Community Church, serving in various roles, with a favorite being an Elder. Sunday’s after church were often spent cruising car dealers with JoAnne by his side. He loved cars almost as much as spending time with his family and dogs. Sunday Fleming family dinners were legendary. He enjoyed his TV time watching westerns, classic movies and The Chosen.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved Josie and Blue, daughters Andrea Denise Maxey and husband Fred R. Maxey and April Fleming Miller and husband Todd J. Miller.

Grandchildren Rebekah A. Lawall & husband Chad, Sarah E. Ponstein & husband Brent, Adam P. Maxey and wife Kelsie, Jordan L. Arney & husband Aaron, Hannah N. Wood (Andrew), Haley N. Miller (Patrick), and Tyler J. Miller.
